An hour and a half drive from the city of Kyoto. Miyama, a beautiful countryside of thatched cottages waits you with warm welcome.
Miyama is registered as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. "Snow Lantern Festival" at Miyama thatched village is held annually in snowy season.
Handmade snow lanterns and flower lanterns as well as illuminations of thatched roof houses make fantastic and nostalgic scenery of the village covered by white snow. It is really worth seeing them.
For the final day of the event on February 4th from 18:30pm, Fireworks will also be revived this year. Furthermore, you can join in making snow lanterns activities and enjoy local hot foods and drinks at Food stalls for the first time after COVID19. The entry fee for the Snow Lantern activity is ¥100/Person.

【Comments from TIC TOKYO concierge】
Would you like to have a "KYOJIDORI, Kyoto local chicken" hot pot that warms your body after visiting the village? The free-range chickens are raised at contract poultry farms. The more you chew chicken, the more flavorsome it becomes.
You can enjoy the hot pot at Miyama Nature & Culture Village, Kajikaso and Chinsen-rou, a traditional inn priding itself on its cuisine.
