  • 京都_キリシマツツジ_メイン
The symbol of the spring tradition at the Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara Michizane (the god of learning) is the Kirishima azalea. The Kirishima azalea planted on the pathway through the centre of Hachijogaike Pond is said to be around 170 years old, blooms in the late April .
Its beautiful scenery can also be seen in videos taken by a drone, are uploaded on the website of the Nagaokakyo City Tourism Association.
In spring, Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine becomes a colorful flower spot, where visitors can enjoy not only Kirishima azalea but also cherry blossoms in early April and Hirado azalea in early May.
