In Yodo River Park Sewaritei District, is a meeting point of the Kizu and Uji Rivers. This area has a cherry blossom lane 1.4 km long, where it becomes a sightseeing spot for visitors in the spring. When the cherry blossoms are fully bloomed, “Sewaritei Sakura Matsuri” is held with many events to enjoy. About 40 stores will be lined up at “Sakura Marche”, selling local products, dishes, sweets, and other items. There are “Sakura-deai cruise,” where you can cruise around Uji River (approx. 20 min.). “Sakura vewing E-Boat,” which you row a boat yourself while enjoying the cherry blossoms.
What’s more, an activity “Sakura guided tour,” walking through the cherry blossom tunnel with a tour guide; going up the “Sakura-deai Visitor Center” you will reach an observation deck (25m high) and see the cherry blossoms from above; etc. Why not try new activities and enjoy them even more!

“Mt. Otokoyama,” located on the northern part of Sewaritei, is also known as a viewing spot for cherry blossoms. In Mt. Otokoyama there is “Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine,” one of the three major Hachimangu Shrines in Japan, is designated as a national treasure. And the shrine building is a masterpiece. A retro designed cable car to the temples’ approach is also popular, and Otokoyama Observatory offers a panoramic view of Kyoto City and the Uji area.
