A special winter scenery that appears for only 5 days

The “Snow Lantern Festival” began from the thought to warmly welcome visitors during the harsh winter with the light of snow lanterns.
However, due to the serious snow shortages in recent years, this year, in 2026, the festival has renamed it to the “Winter Lantern Festival”.
Just For five days, the Miyama Kayabuki no sato—where 39 thatched-roof houses still stand, offering a glimpse of Japan's original farming village landscape—will be illuminated.
During the event, around five food stalls will be open daily taking turns.
On January 21st, dedication of Japanese dance performance is held; also, mochi pounding and zenzai (sweet red bean soup with mochi) for you to try.
Experience the winter in “Miyama Kayabuki no sato” with glow of alley lanterns and LED lanterns.
This scenery can only be seen during these five days of the year.
